Pet-friendly Amsterdam
Amsterdam looks gentle from a bridge and turns out to be stairs, bikes, and cobbles. A good listing admits all three.
The Jordaan and the streets around Vondelpark are the stays we would book for a first trip with a dog. Canal houses are narrow and the staircases are serious. If your pet is large, older, or simply not a fan of spiral steps, filter for that before you admire the beams.
Vondelpark is the pressure valve. Cafés along the park are more likely to have a dog under a chair than restaurants in the busiest squares, and even then you ask. Trams may allow pets with a ticket and a muzzle rule that you should read the week you travel, not the year you saved the article.
Pet notes
- Count the stairs. Photos hide them.
- A short leash is the polite setting almost everywhere in the center.
- Vondelpark is the walk. Build the day around it.
