Pet-friendly Stockholm

Stockholm is built across islands, which is good news on a leash: you are never far from water, a park, or a quieter quay.

Sunny waterfront of Gamla Stan in Stockholm, with warm historic buildings along the quay

The easiest pet-friendly pattern here is a neighborhood with a morning loop and a stay that has already written down the rules. Gamla Stan is beautiful and tight. Östermalm and Djurgården give you longer walks. Hosts on the ferries to the archipelago set their own pet rules, so check the boat you actually plan to ride.

Summer is when the city is easiest, and also when wildlife protection matters on the islands. Ask the host what they expect between March and August, pack a towel for wet paws, and treat example rates on TravelTail as a preview until a host confirms the dates.

Pet notes

  • Djurgården and Hagaparken are the long city walks.
  • Many central flats are up stairs. Read the access note before you fall in love with the photos.
  • Archipelago boats differ. Confirm pets on that departure, not just that route.
